An unexpected and wonderful benefit of my art practice:
Children's Hospital of Los Angeles has a group of my Odd Socks creatures on one of their waiting room walls. A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the grandfather of a tiny patient who was undergoing heart surgery. He wanted to know if I had any Odd Socks creatures available to purchase. I was honored and happy to give him one - he came to my studio to pick out just the right one for his granddaughter. She is recovering well. Here's a photo of Madeleine and her new creature, which she has named “Daffodil.”

AuthorI am influenced by the landscape of my childhood, both interior and exterior. I grew up in a remote Quaker community adjacent to the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia, Canada. My work is also influenced by the strong light and colors of Los Angeles, my chosen home. Archives
