Materials: Artist dyed fabric, dupioni silks, cotton batting and backing, thread.
Techniques: Fabric dyeing, reverse applique, piecing, hand guided machine quilting.
Artist Statement:
“Here & Now” speaks to what it means to be present, to be here and now in this moment. This artwork stands on its own as an abstract, but with careful attention, the hidden message becomes apparent. The dynamic lines spell out “Here And Now”, one word per panel. Each panel shows layered lines that create the letters which spell out each word. These lines were created from fabric on which I wrote my thoughts and feelings about what it means to be present and to live my life with intention. Thus, a simple abstract textile transforms to become an incitement to live our best lives in this current moment.
